Cheryl Butler, MA, LPC, LPC-S

Cheryl ispassionate about helping individuals, couples, and families find not only balance to the everyday demands that (we) have but to have JOY while doing it!

With extensive training in education and counseling, Cheryl has worked with families going through transitions (divorce, merging families, parenting, and marriage) as well as individuals struggling with self-esteem, confidence, communication techniques, and interpersonal relationships.  She utilizes an eclectic approach rooted in family systems, attachment theory, and CBT.

Her work with teenagers lends itself to being able to relate to the emotional and biological processes during the pre/pubescent years for our youth- making her knowledgeable and relatable to all ages! She is passionate about closing the gap that often gets created between children and their parents- allowing for the home to have unity and harmony!

While not in the office, you will find Cheryl with her main loves: her three young boys and husband. She embraces all aspects of being a “boy mom” (minus the mess) and believes that the home is the best classroom.  It is not uncommon to see her catching critters or doing science experiments…  Her interests range from being engrossed in a good book (recently Nightingale is her favorite), watching documentaries, Starbucks all day, and dreaming of traveling the world (penguins in the Arctic and an African safari being top of the list).  She loves living in the South, yet often still calls herself a Yankee and Penn State Proud! Cheryl also recently launched True North Families- a way to provide encouragement, inspiration, and guidance to families. You can learn more by visiting: truenorthfamilies.com
