Julie Trushenski, MA, LPC Associate

After ten years working in the corporate world, Julie shifted her energy towards raising her  three children, who are now almost grown and starting lives of their own. While fulfilling her parenting duties, Julie also focused her energy on helping lead volunteer organizations serving children in Africa, Haiti, and Costa Rica, even participating in and leading mental health talks internationally.

Julie is also passionate about helping to restore marriages. She and her husband helped launch a marriage enrichment program called ReEngage.  For five years, Julie and her husband helped couples focus on repairing and strengthening marriages through: improved communication, conflict management, intimacy, and expectations.

Before joining True North, Julie interned with Yes to Youth (Montgomery County Youth Services) as a Family Support Specialist, where she provided a solution-focused and trauma informed approach of counseling to youth and families, helping to reduce conflict, improve communication, change thought patterns, and learn acceptance.

Julie deeply cares about helping others uncover ways to positively respond to life’s challenges even when the challenge seems insurmountable. Whether you have a child who is struggling, a job you feel stuck in, an illness that won’t go away, or a way of coping that seems to hurt more than help, Julie’s approach to counseling aims to help you persevere with joy, hope, humor, and trust.

With experience working with individuals ranging in ages 8 to 80, Julie specializes in: Addiction, Co-dependency, Marital Problems, Grief, Trauma, Parenting Adolescents, Chronic Illness, Anxiety, Depression, Relationships, Balance, and Life Transitions.

Julie is under the clinical supervision of Cheryl Butler, MA, LPC, LPC-S (#6775).
